Antelope Canyon
Antelope Canyon. Located on Navajo land, this beautiful natural formation is only accessible by tour guides and Instagram has been making this place more popular than ever. Distinguished by two canyons, Lower and Upper, it's best to do research on which you would like to see. We did Lower Antelope Canyon through Ken's Tours, and I highly recommend their tours. You have to book ahead of time a certain time slot, and if you would like to do a "Photographer Tour" or a "General Tour". Due to the lack of equipment and time for my group, we did the general tour, but it was just enough time to experience this magnificent canyon. We paid $20 each to reserve our time slot online, and since this is Navajo land, the park admission required each person to pay $8 at the entrance booth. The tour is about 1 hour and 20 minutes long, and we heard the best time to go was in the morning to see the light shine through without washing out the beautiful colors. The tour guides take time to explain different features of the canyon that are popular and which exposure to set your camera or phone to. Stick to the front of the tour or you'll miss a lot of info, but it does go fast so pace yourself for photos! Bring lots of water, especially during the summer, because the chance of heatstroke is higher than normal here and be prepared to walk up and down stairs and through narrow canyon walls.
